The X-700 has a nice bright viewfinder, which IMO, is one of the best offered when it comes to 35mm SLR cameras, and it gives you access to all of Minolta’s manual focus lenses, dating back to the ’60s. It has a lot going for it, including a great auto-exposure ‘program’ mode, which is ideal if you need a camera that will take care of setting both the shutter speed and aperture for you. This is a camera that was incredibly popular and was in production from the early eighties right up until 2001. I didn’t know much about it at the time but fell in love quickly. I first experienced a Minolta X-700 after finding one in a thrift store with a 50mm f1.4 lens attached.
